Emma si Dexter se intalnesc pentru prima oara la Universitatea din Edinburgh, pe 15 iulie 1988, la absolvire. In urmatorii 20 de ani, ei se intalnesc o singura zi din an. Filmul spune povestea vietilor lor pana in momentul in care realizeaza ca sunt facuti unul pentru altul.
