Oh, Hi! este o comedie neagra romantica subsversiva, care exploreaza greutatile dating-ului modern – lipsa comunicarii, frica de angajament si toate celelalte. Iris (Molly Gordon) si Isaac (Logan Lerman) sunt un “cuplu” care pleaca impreuna in prima lor escapada de weekend.
Acolo, prima lor vacanta impreuna se transforma intr-un cosmar relational bine cunoscut de multe femei din Generatia Z si Millennials aflate in cupluri heterosexuale, pe masura ce Iris descopera ca iubitul ei, Isaac, nu este pe aceeasi lungime de unda in ceea ce priveste relatia lor – sau mai bine spus lipsa acesteia. Pe masura ce Iris recurge la masuri extreme si nebunesti pentru a face fata acestei crize neasteptate, ea apeleaza la ajutorul celei mai bune prietene a ei (interpretata de Geraldine Viswanathan) pentru a primi sfaturi despre ce sa faca mai departe, fara sa-si dea seama ca aceasta a venit insotita si de iubitul ei (interpretat de John Reynolds).
“We don’t really get to be crazy. There’s just still not that many great female characters out there — the kind of wild characters usually played by men,” declara Molly Gordon pentru Vanity Fair.
“It’s all about tone, right? It’s such a thin line. The film toes this really thin line of tone and perspective. It was really important to me that both characters felt like real people and fully rounded, realized versions of themselves. It’s super-vulnerable, it’s incredibly human to want love and to want to give love and be loved. Sometimes women, specifically, who say that are considered desperate or crazy, and I think that’s really unfair. Iris is a really brave character, and it’s a perfect storm of everything kind of landing in a way at the end of the first act where you’re like, ‘Oh, if those things hadn’t happened, she probably wouldn’t have done this crazy thing.’ I hope that people can relate to like, ‘Oh, I wouldn’t do this, but in a perfect storm, maybe I would.’ … The goal is to do it in a funny, lighthearted way that’s entertaining to people,” adauga regizoarea Sophie Brooks.
