Pentru 2013, A&E pregateste un serial extrem de interesant, Bates Motel – un prequel al celebrului film de groaza regizat de Alfred Hitchcock, Psycho!
Cred ca sunt foarte putine persoane care nu au vazut filmul sau care nu au auzit macar despre intriga acestuia sau despre infricosatorul personaj Norman Bates, interpretat magistral in 1960 de Anthony Perkins. In Bates Motel, actorul britanic de 20 de ani, Freddie Highmore, va juca rolul tanarului Norman Bates; el a jucat alaturi de Johnny Depp in Finding Neverland si Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
Carlton Cuse, producatorul executiv al serialului, a declarat ca acest personaj nu va fi deloc cum se asteapta fanii. El nu cauta un actor care sa il imite pe Perkins, pentru ca Bates Motel va oferi o versiune originala si complexa, bazata pe filmul clasic al lui Hitchcock. Vera Farmiga (Up in the Air) va interpreta rolul mamei lui Norman, Norma Louise Bates, in timp ce Max Thieriot (Kit Kittredge: An American Girl) va fi Dylan, fiul cel mare si rebel al lui Norma.
Productia noului serial va incepe la inceputul lunii octombrie, iar premiera va fi in 2013.
