Urmatorul film regizat de Sam Mendes (1917) va fi Empire of Light, un film de dragoste de epoca cu Olivia Colman (The Favourite) in rolul principal.
Searchlight Pictures va produce filmul scris de Mendes, a carui actiune se petrece in jurul unui cinematograf vechi de pe Coasta de Sud a Angliei, in anii ’80.
Sam Mendes va colabora din nou cu cineastul Roger Deakins, care a castigat Premiul Oscar pentru 1917. Mendes si Pippa Harris vor produce filmul prin compania lor, Neal Street Productions, in timp ce Matthew Greenfield, David Greenbaum si Katie Goodson-Thomas de la Searchlight se vor ocupa de proiect.
“I have long been an admirer of Searchlight and the dynamic way they have produced and released some of my favorite theatrical releases of recent years. This project is very close to my heart, and I couldn’t be more delighted that it has found its ideal home,” a declarat celebrul regizor.
“Sam has written an exquisite cinematic drama that captured our hearts from page one. He is a masterful filmmaker, and we look forward to working with him, Pippa, and Roger and to reunite with the great Olivia on this truly special film,” au adaugat Greenbaum si Greenfield.
